About
Kristy Kershaw Jefferson is a creative with wide range. Forged in the simultaneous fires of NYC’s improv scene and the world of women’s television, she is a seasoned writer, producer, and performer who relishes giving voice to a diverse array of subjects, no matter the format. Her improv training on the stages of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre was instrumental in her ability to work fast, craft a wide range of voices and tones, and make strong choices. Throughout her career, she has brought her skills to writing and producing television promos, establishing the brands of small startups, managing social media, writing site copy, blog posts, email communications, and more. Kristy’s superpower is teaming well with anyone and everyone, bringing with her a love of communicating both on and off the page.

Inspired to action during the Syrian refugee crisis of 2016, Kristy has spent the last eight years doing the ‘boots on the ground’ work of refugee resettlement. Along with her fellow board members of Danbury Area Refugee Assistance, she has helped make financial decisions for the organization, facilitated legal services for Afghan Humanitarian Parolees, arranged translation services and schooling for children, raised money, greeted families into the country right off the plane, and much more. In 2022 Kristy took part in the Connecticut Afghan Asylum Project (CAAP), which aimed to pair the unprecedented number of Afghan evacuees with pro bono attorneys to assist with the unprecedented number of asylum cases in need of filing. She describes it as an honor and a privilege to work with these families, by far the most meaningful work of her life.
